 Wudhu

The Faraa’idh of Wudhu

There are six Faraa’idh in Wudhu:

  • Niyyah (intention).
  • Washing your entire face once.
  • Washing both your arms up to and including the elbows once.
  • Making masah, i.e. wiping a portion of your head once.
  • Washing both your feet up to and including the ankles once.
  • Washing every limb in sequence as mentioned above.

The Sunnah method of making Wudhu

  • Sit at a clean place.
  • Face the Qiblah.
  • Make intention. (I am making Wudhu to lift the state of lesser ritual impurity in order to perform all acts which are otherwise not permissible without Wudhu). This intention cannot be made by those who are in the state of chronic annulment of Wudhu. Their intention should be for permission to perform the obligation of Prayer.
  • Recite the Du’aa before commencing wudhu.
